I would like to thank everyone for visiting my blog. This site is devoted to my personal experience with mental illness and how I’ve learned to manage it. I currently suffer from schizophrenia and depression but also have bouts of anxiety that forced me to be reclusive when I was younger. I have been through different forms of treatment including prescription medication, therapy, hospitalization as well as my own hobbies to cope with my ongoing condition. I can safely say that I have never once turned to drugs or alcohol as a form of self-medication nor have I undergone more serious treatments such as shock therapy or brain surgery. It can be a struggle dealing with my symptoms throughout the day and I sometimes find myself putting n hint of humor in some of it. I don’t mean to offend anyone in that mental illness is serious and can lead to a life threatening situation but sometimes all I can do is laugh when times get tough and the pressure is on. I do believe that finding an outlet whether you need to take your mind off of aspects of your life or just relax is very important. Through these post, I wish to share my personal triumphs, and failures. What happened to me? What made me get help? Who helped me through it? How? And why I feel my experience is important. As with any medical condition if you are having symptoms you should seek treatment by a trained professional. I do not post in an attempt to help treat, diagnose, or cure any illness. I hope that maybe you will find the courage to speak up and seek help if you need it. Don’t ignore the signs.
As a side note. I am currently focusing my energy on becoming an indie author as well. So I will also be posting my adventures in self-publishing as well here.
